Trees, cabs and crime in San Francisco

Shazbot has uploaded an interesting image to Flickr which uses subtractive blending to show the locations of trees, cabs and crimes in San Francisco. The ‘tree data’ is from Friends of the Urban Forest, the crime data from Crime Reports, and ‘a day’s worth of cab data’ comes from the Yellow Cab Co-operative. (It’s not clear whether this is the routes traced by SF cabs over the course day, or some other measure.) Anyway: nice visualisation, and an interesting use of data, though as with many of these info-mash ups, it’s not clear exactly what we might conclude from it.
